Platforms are a combination of hardware and software for robot development.

Hobby Grade Platforms[]

Lego Mindstorms[]

MINDSTORMS by The LEGO Group is a system developed since 1998. Different revisions have been made over the years : RCX 1.0, RCX 1.5, RCX 2.0, NXT 1.0, NXT 2.0, EV3. The standard software uses a graphical approach to define the actions of the robot.

All hardware and software is open-source. Because of this, a lot of other software has been designed to run on the MINDSTORMS, and also hardware replacements.

VEX IQ is a robotics platform designed for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) learning for young students and their teachers. Students can jump right in and snap robots together using a toolless system. Educators can utilise free VEX IQ Curriculum to help teach lessons.
